About The Kingsland Gardener
Krista has been a passionate wildlife and nature enthusiast since growing up in the Midwestern American countryside and woodlands as a child. Her love of plants developed over the years when she emigrated to New Zealand as a teenager, where she spent 5 years studying plant biology and ecology – she was so fascinated by native New Zealand vegetation that she chose to focus her post-graduate studies on understanding past climate and glaciological change using plants to unlock these stories from around the world.
Krista’s first major experience of gardening came from her 10 years of living in New Zealand, learning how creative Kiwi gardeners combined native plants with English cottage garden styles to create gorgeous and unique gardens. When Krista moved to the UK in 2002 to undertake her PhD, she longed for the day in which she would have her very own garden.
Over the years, Krista, her husband, young daughter and chocolate Labrador have moved from Scotland to Herefordshire, and she has enjoyed creating new gardens from scratch, renovating gardens and helping family and friends create their very own ‘patch of paradise.’ She has also has taken much joy in passing on her love of gardens and gardening to her 5 year old daughter (who gets quite cross if Mummy does not let her stay up to watch ‘Gardeners’ World’!) and who delights in the opening of each new flower, smelling the perfume of an abundance of roses and relishes eating the tasty produce grown organically in her own garden.
Krista’s happiest moments are spent outdoors watching gardens change throughout the seasons and wildlife flourish in the spaces that she has created. Please do not hesitate to contact us, it would be a pleasure to work with you and help you to create a garden that you can love and enjoy year round.
“The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies”.
– Gertrude Jekyll
